Rio Grande La Jara Water Tank Kit
Scale Model Masterpieces formerly Thomas A. Yorke Enterprises S/Sn3/Sn2/1:64 -Scale
The Scale Model Masterpieces Rio Grande La Jara Water Tank S/Sn3 kit is finally here, and it has been worth the time taken to re-offer this kit in HO, S, & O Scales.
Background: This little tank model is based on the Rio Grande's tank at La Jara (14 miles south of Alamosa). It can be built exactly as shown in the plans, or it can be lowered/raised to fit various applications. After the model is assembled to the point that the bents, platform and tank are assembled, place the largest loco next the model to check the spout height—you be the judge here. Does it look too high? Too low?
Tom Yorke originally planned on running the little Joe Works Porter 0-4-0T (HO Scale), and it looked too high to him, so he cut it down two scale feet.
NOTE: The height for the water spout filler plate on the filler block is approximately a scale 11’ 6” to the bottoms of the concrete footers. This height may be raised or lowered by removing or adding to the concrete footers. Plenty of extra effort has been put into the thought of this kit including those "realistic" looking wood bents (actually, pre-assembled Color-Cast high quality resin), detailed instructions and lots of Doctor Ben's Tips and secrets so that you can construct and weather this kit to look just like the picture. Your friends will think that you had a professional build and weather the finished model-only you and your hair dresser will know for sure ;^)
